Gods
Dragon
is regarded as the most auspicious creature in Chinese mythology. There is
also a year named after the dragon in the Chinese calendar. People born in
this year are self reliant, upright and don’t listen to others. The Year
of the Dragon, which takes place ever twelve years, is lucky. Children
born in the dragon year are blessed, and enjoy good health, wealth and
happiness. Although strong and decisive the Dragon is not manipulative or
sly. This auspicious creature is considered to be generous, upright and
helpful. Dragon gods are Chinese mythological gods who are worshipped in
China even today. The Chinese dragon is considered to be the most powerful
and divine creature and is the controller of all waters. The dragon
symbolizes great power and can destroy everything by spitting fire.
One of the most famous dragons in Chinese mythology is Ying Long,
or "Responding Dragon" who is the god of rain. Many people in
different places pray to him in order to receive rain. The Chinese proudly
call themselves as the descendants of dragon. The dragons generally
symbolize ultimate abundance, prosperity and good fortune. In China people
pray to dragon for everything.
Dragon
dance is very famous and synonymous with Chinese New Year. The Chinese
dragon is considered to be very intelligent, kind and generous. It is a
symbol of power and it is believed that if you have a painting of dragon
in your house or office it will bring good luck to you. According to Feng
Shui dragons are considered auspicious and help to drive away negative
‘Chi’. The Dragon is the ultimate representation of the forces of
Mother Nature, the greatest divine force on Earth. The dragon controls the
sun, wind and rain and is closely guarded as the ultimate symbol of good
fortune.
There
are nine major types of Chinese dragons.
They are the horned dragon, the winged dragon, the celestial dragon
(which supports and protects the mansions of the gods), the spiritual
dragon which generates wind and rain for the benefit of mankind), the
dragon of hidden treasures (which keeps guard over concealed wealth), the
coiling dragon (which lives in water), and the yellow dragon (which once
emerged from water and presented the legendary Emperor Fu Shi with the
elements of writing). The last of the dragon is the king of dragons.
Since
the dragons have a loud voice it is believed that the sound they make can
ward off evil spirits and bring good luck. So dragons are worshipped by
Chinese all over the world and Feng Shui also preaches the importance of
dragon to bring in good luck. Positioned in the east where the sun rises a
dragon can definitely attract good ‘Chi’ to the place. Since it is
closely associated with Mother Nature dragons play a vital role in Feng
Shui. The Dragon is a must for all aspirations you desire in life which
could be gained from good Feng Shui. A fat and healthy Dragon is the most
essential characteristics needed for successful blessings.
